The Unsatisfied Herd of Humanity
Failure is discouraging in the way that we wonder about our worth, and how much we will ever be able to achieve...in the way of success, we wonder where to go from there; now that we have reached this level of achievement, is that it, what do you do when you have what you want? It seems that as modern humans, we are programmed to fear failure and strive for success, but it's the journey that gets us going every time. We ultimately live for the process, the chase, the idea of success. Perhaps that's why the world works the way it does. Many people live to work for money, fearing their life without it, but once they achieved what they deem to be success, they realize that it's all they have, artificial success.
What immediately comes to mind when hearing the word SUCCESS is the commercialized idea society has set out for us: a big-time lawyer, a doctor, a college graduate, etc. Its all very cliche, very repetitive, and rather robotic. Humans are, in and of ourselves, different; we should have different ideas of success (what makes us happy with ourselves) and not move together toward the future in an unsatisfied herd. It's in this way, that the word sometimes makes me question the priorities of the people, and of myself.
I'm looking to become a stronger writer and your feedback has been very helpful! I find my strengths, as a writer, mostly reside in poems, short stories and essays.
